"Surfing is more a way of life than a sport. People who are into surfing find places where the surf is good and then they build a life there. You have to wear a full wet suit to surf here, because the water is cold, but I'd rather have cold water and no crowds than warm water and crowds." 1970 World Champion surfer Mike Doyle. This became such a popular surfing spot after Mike Doyle lived here during the '70s that the highway department improved a graveled parking area for it and roughed-in a trail under the Hubbard Creek bridge to take safely to the beach. Note that this is a primitive 'Day-Use' only area and in between Winter storms, it is a great area to go beachcombing!
